backup retention policy:
	on all machines:
		retain *.backup of last successful import
		retain vegbien.r12025.backup (used with VirtualBox)
	on jupiter, also:
		retain *.backup of the last 2 successful imports
		may retain backups further back if disk space permits
			these retained backups can be marked with a .OK_TO_DELETE suffix
