Decisions made¶
VegBank validation¶
- up to Bob whether to have 3 separate tables (plot, species, stems), or one denormalized table for the occurrences
"I will opt for three tables as it will be much easier for Michael and me to validate these" (Bob)
"I concur. With VegBank data, the possibility of multiple stems for multiple records of the same species on a plot means you could get a false duplication of records, depending on how you are denormalizing them" (Mike Lee)
datasource validations¶
- "getting data in and validated is the absolute top priority" (Martha)
- tabling having a generic approach that works for all plot datasources (Martha) (i.e. automation of validation)
- 2-6 queries depending on what tables are needed
- don't include output columns where there is no data for the corresponding input column
order:
VegBankCVS- Madidi
- do this before FIA (Brad)
- fix issues in whatever order (Brad)
- ARIZ, U, TEX
- FIA, GBIF, MO
To do for all¶
- review Brad's data use and attribution document
- see ERD on p. 7
- pay especial attention to the dataset table and how this connects to data records
