Priorities for the 2013-12-20 deadline¶

Since we have only 2 1/2 weeks left until the 12/20 deadline, I think we should focus on the information that is most critical to include in the database. This would be conditions of use for the datasources that provide them, and a list of validation issues for every datasource that we want to include in VegBIEN. (This will enable users to exclude any fields/datasources that have known problems affecting their analyses.) Obtaining these validation issues will entail creating validation extracts for the 5 datasources that need 1st-round validation (or 1st round after refresh; FIA, MO, ARIZ, GBIF, and BIEN2 traits), and getting a BIEN member to provide feedback on each extract. The feedback should focus just on the critical issues for this first round, to facilitate getting this done by 12/20.

For the initial BIEN3 release, we will also need to provide CSV exports of the key views (occurrences and traits), available via a password-protected link (currently, the exports are listed, but not web-downloadable).
